| What is Diversity Management? |
Welcome Diversity@Work targets all people who are interested in integrating diverse groups into the workplace. Funded by the Leonardo programme, the site provides:
Information on a wide range of policies and practices at both the European and National Level. Training via our e-learning modules which provide an introductory understanding of the key issues involved in Managing Diversity in the Workplace. Diversity Management Toolkit that provides the necessary tools to design and implement Diversity Management policies in your workplace. The enlargement of the European Union to include the 10 Accession States has brought the issue of Diversity in the Workplace to the fore. Many countries and workplaces are considering how to best manage the possible influx of foreign nationals into their labour markets and workplaces. Diversity, however, is not just a question of nationality or language: it refers to a wide range of characteristics of difference. It includes, for example, issues of disability, age, gender and ethnicity. There is a different philosophy to many that exist in the field underpinning this site. We view diversity as a generic concept that can apply to any characteristic. This philosophy means that instead of producing programmes that target single groups, we promote programmes that address the issue as a whole. We encourage organisations to develop proactive approaches to diversity, so that they can achieve the benefits of having a diverse workforce. There are benefits for employees also: being fully integrated into a workplace and having their talents fully recognised and used. We think that you will benefit from the material on this site. We hope that if you have any comments, good or bad, you will contact us and we will do our best to respond. |
